Handwoven Cotton Kimono Jacket
Made from three types of hand-spun cotton fabrics in stunning shades of Rose Pink. It uses checks with a play of gold thread (zari) within the weave to give it a beautiful effect. It uses a patchwork placement of light checked and zari fabrics all over the silhouette.
Highlighted with Kantha embroidery
Each piece is handwoven and hand-dyed using natural dyes.
The front panels feature in-seam pockets for added convenience.
It is a relaxed, contemporary fit.

Jamadani weave is an art, the highlight of this textile are its rich motifs, which are all intricately added by hand. Jamdani is considered the most advanced hand weaving technique in the world. Each motif has to be inlaid into the fabric by adding denser threads to fine warp threads by hand. This requires skill and precision. It involves a community of artisans, often a family of weavers, dyers and spinners coordinating with each other.
For our cotton jamdani line we have partnered with Karomi, based in Kolkata, India. Founded by the sister duo, Sarita Ganeriwala and Sarika Ginodia, their design is best described as a movement of elements translated to textile and brought to life through the collective effort of nearly 200 weavers.
Every piece begins as an idea on the drawing table. The idea is allowed to grow with artistic freedom, explored in several colors, patterns and combinations. It is then graphed out as a design for the weavers to weave in Jamdani.

Urban Medley ondersteunt traditionele weef- en drukvormen. Hun ontwerpers helpen de ambachtslieden om een evenwicht te vinden tussen traditie en hedendaagse ontwerpen en helpen hun te commercialiseren met behulp van hun eeuwenoude methoden en productieprocessen. De prachtige sjaals en accessoires van Urban Medley zijn gemaakt door kleine gemeenschappen van wevers en printers uit India. De wevers werken voornamelijk vanuit huis, waarbij ze hun eigen werktijden bepalen. De printers werken in een kleine werkplaats met aangename werkomstandigheden. Urban Medley gebruikt biologisch, zwart katoen, 'peace' zijde en biologisch leer voor hun producten. Het merk wil niet gebonden zijn aan leeftijd, geslacht, ras, kleur of zelfs maat, daarom zijn accessoires gekozen als het belangrijkste focuspunt. De accessoires helpen u bij het vormgeven van uw eigen stijl. De ‘take care’ tassen zijn ook milieuvriendelijk: stoffen tassen gemaakt door vrouwen die vanuit huis werken in een dorp in Tamilnadu. Deze vrouwen kunnen daarom hun gezin onderhouden zonder dat ze een voet buiten de deur hoeven te steken. Het merk helpt je om een trotse en bewuste fashionista te zijn.
